The State of Play

Okay, so TheDarkMaster has graciously and awesomely offered to take over Rasna coding, to save my sanity. Thanks guy. He's doing this out of the goodness of his heart though, so there's no time frame on it getting done. Until it is, I guess I'm going to close the Corner Shop in future builds until it's all ready.

Been working mostly on putting health bars into the game today, and I sort of have them working except for the fact that they want to appear on top of each other. Still, they'll be nice when they are done. I've also been messing around with some new enemies, and a system to fortify your base.

So, a question - what work would you most like to see done on the game? I'm tending to flit around from bit to bit randomly at the moment, which I guess is not efficient. Would you rather I worked on the front end stuff like the health bars and generally making the UI more attractive and nice, or is the look of the thing less important than the actual content of the game, and you'd rather I just added more mutants/areas/etc?

New build later with any luck.

I like the new layout, makes things easier to see more readily.

Wanted to let you know about a POSSIBLE bug. There have been times I would search for supplies...and nothing happens. Nothing at all, like there's supposed to be something that hasn't been written in yet or something. I noticed this at Westside Estates, maybe it's elsewhere too.

I think getting the health bar and other UI stuff is OK, but I prefer the adventure and finding new areas/mutants over that.

I was thinking, too, of maybe having a place that sells health potions so when you go into a dungeon you don't run into the *lost a fight due to HP loss and if someone attacks with a physical attack I'll lose* but don't know how hard that will be to write in.

Yeah, the "blank search screen" bug happens in at least Lancaster and Westside, I think it's something to do with me not having an alternative set up for certain events than run out, but I haven't been able to nail it down yet, sorry.

Health items are a good idea, and if I get the "call from anywhere" inventory/stats screen I'm working on working, that'll be a good place to use those and meditate outside of battle. Potions don't really fit, though.. I guess I'd make them Energy Drinks. :P

Maybe more content for subs. I mean that's something CoC is lacking a bit in my opinion. Actually most of these games do. So yeah, and sub content without a bad end would be kinda cool.

As you go along there'll be more of everything i'm sure, but how's about permanent clothing (i.e. piercings/collars). Er yeah, i know i might be reaching but I might as well try.

The health bar seems like a great idea! :D

Haha, I'd have classed the whole game as sub content. :P What specific sort of stuff do you think it's lacking?

Permanent clothing is definitely a possibility.

Still fighting the health bars, but I now have a button in the game that lets you actually check your stats whenever and wherever you want. An outlandish addition, I know, but I thought people might like it.

First off, I want to say that I LOVE this game!

I actually like the game's current layout.

Some of the things I'd like to see:
-Alternate sex scenes for existing monsters.
-Some more quests.
-Some additional clothing options, especially if it adds different kinds of bonuses (Attracts monsters, increases lust, decreases lust, improves speed, etc.)
-Something that makes it so enemies can potentially find your home base.

Keep up the good work!

I be the anon whom you asked of which content I may think it's missing. Ola!

Well maybe some of that permanent clothing can be, uh "gifts" from a certain girl(s?) and it'll affect the players stats maybe in some sort of way. If not just the clothing itself would be great.

Any feminizing stuff since that's usually very sub related, like how the red fruit makes the players dick longer.

Maybe any girls that get stuck with the player for some time? I mean similar games have followers and whatnot. And i do love how my character in your game is solo and kicks ass that way. But maybe a bitchy girl that just stays at base and doesn't leave no matter what.

Maybe a stat on the players dom/sub tendencies. Could affect of how they think of girls a bit more.

Maybe give the monsters a queen? lol i dunno there.

And constant stat checking is nice. :) Thankss for replying!

I over edited my comment -_-
i know the fruit wasn't femizing, I just meant to state maybe some other food/fruit found that would instead of making the player more manly, much more girly.

I admit I haven't played for a few builds so I'm not up to date on things but I enjoyed what was around at the time.
For a game like this generally the UI doesn't need to be to pretty as long as its functional and straight forward.
Most of the things I'd like to see are oddball stuff happening to the player but I'm from CoC so I'm rather biased there and it doesn't really fit this game except maybe as future bad ends.
So I'm going to 2nd Alternate sex scenes for existing monsters. having things change up keeps it fresher.

A few comments:

I can foresee the need for a menu system, particularly if you want to add more than a few battle items/ moves). And an in-base map feature for finished dungeons and the island would be a bonus.

Also, pictures of stages of transformation for all the girls is a point of uniqueness that will draw more fans (and $$) (cause that level of visual quality sets this game apart from similar genre text games imho.)

You have a pharmacy in a made up world only loosely associated with reality. Think of the possibilities beside just anti-virus injections.

Also, (much?) later, like some have suggested, an evolved base defense system. Perhaps with siege like battles maybe involving multiple attackers and followers, since it sounds like there will be some at some point. (Dragon warrior-ish battle system seems to lend itself well to text game application, if that's viable.) It would be another point of uniqueness as base defense is a minor to non-existent feature in all text games in the genre to my knowledge.

Last thought, other endings besides exploding heads.

Haha, much later? Try this build! XD
It's still just beginning, but you can fortify your base - albeit uselessly - from this build on.

Graphics will continue to be added, but our main artist Sharona is working for love, plugs and whatever commissions people pay for, and has other work and projects too.

Now I have worked out BUTTONS, I'll probably be able to tackle a proper re-vamped battle screen in the future.

Never heard of Dragon Warrior, but I will look it up.

Also, yeah, everyone hates their head exploding, though it make me laugh. I guess I might try to put in the first "proper" non rescue ending as part of tommorows work.

Other anons - Thanks for the suggestions! You're definitely going to have some visitors/guests at your base at some point, alt sex scenes for existing girls will hopefully be added too, also more fruit effects.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

I really like how the game is developing :)

I would have a quite simple combat mechanic request, the addition of HP/Stats drain attacks and also the addition of status effects. I think that those elements could give each encouter a much more unique flavor.

@ seldom pie: to clarify, i was thinking the systems in dragon warrior 2, 3, and 4 (all NES games), which are all mostly the same. They are basically text and menu based combat.
