Update soon!

There'll be a new build of the game out in the next few days, and I'm happy to say the game has now passed the 100,000 word mark. That's a lot of words! It's thanks in no small part to an awesome dude called Legion, who's very kindly written some scenes for us. Hooray!
So, new mutant minx fun soon. That is all.

No new art as of yet, sadly, hoping to set something up so I can afford to get some commissioned soon. Basic idea is to commission a new piece for each $30 (or some amount) PieGames rakes in. Setting up a patereon might be more sensible, but I dunno if it is suited to my, shall we say, erratic update schedule. Will discuss it more when I update with the update!

Any word on an Android version may be coming out?

I'm relatively new here and I was just wondering exactly what this game's about and what's the overall objective in it. Can you tell me more or point me in the direction to find out more? Because, your wiki is kinda useless. No offense.

It is a survival game, You just need to survive till the right day and then leave.

That is the objective, not achieving it is the fun part.

From what I experienced, not really Hail. It's mostly a pain in the ass and exceptionally boring. It's more or less a monster rape fest. Which, I know it's supposed to be. But, it's not scary though. If it's supposed to be a survival horror game then at least make it scary so the player at least has incentive to NOT lose or surrender. It seems as though the game was built the other way around with the intention to have the player lose and not progress any further in the game because, sex.

That's actually spot on. The only horror in the game would be in maybe some of the minxes or situations you can end up in. As it is, there isn't a threat of death or injury. It's a b-movie style romp through an infected island teeming with females. The OBJECTIVE is to survive a month without being infected and get to the beach to be rescued. The POINT is to travel around and get sexed by all the monsters.

So really, it is a survival game in part. You have to search for and manage resources such as food, money, and training items. You have to last 30 days without being fully infected, or not. It's just not horror based.

Hi Anon, thanks for the crit! I'm sorry you find the game boring and assy to play, if you have any suggestions to improve it, please let me know! Though the game's basis is a kind of survival sim, and it takes a lot of its thematics from b-grade horror, I guess the atmosphere is supposed to be eerie/creepy/oppressive/alien rather than outright scary.
There's a lot of games like this that are set in worlds that we are told have changed, have become corrupted - but that's always happened before the game begins. I wanted to make a game where the world changes and degrades and gets increasingly alien and unnerving and hostile around you as you play, and to let the player explore that. I guess you're right, that unless you lose you are missing out on most of the games content, but I like to think that tempting the player to lose is part of the games "advancing inevitable corruption" kind of deal or theme. One player on another forum described it as a "lust betrayal" mechanic, and I guess that fits. The "goal" of the game is to avoid the mutants and infection and all and stay safe and sound til the rescue ships come and take you back to civilised civilisation - unless you give in to the creeping weirdness and dive into it headlong instead.
Like I say, if you have any suggestions on how to improve the game, please let me know! I am always open to suggestions, and appreciate the honest criticism! :3

Unknown - I am pretty sure ren'py can make android versions, so as long as I am not mistaken in that, I can have it poop out an android MMM of the next build for you!

Haha, and Vasin swoops in and expresses things I wanted to way more eloquently than I can, right before I try to. :P

Yeah, it is a erotic text game, it's not meant to scare you methinks.

Btw, what is the eta on the next release, sorry to bug but ive been excited ever seeing that map that was posted.

Well, I do say in some of the description stuff for the game, and when talking about it in generals, that it's "sort of a survival horror parody" or "uses survival horror elements" or "is influenced by '80's horror movies", so it's a fair assumption to make that it's supposed to be a fear-fest. Maybe I should find a better way to describe it, or push the "comedy-horror" or "homage to/parody of" angle more blatantly. That said, there are at least bits of it that I did intend to be creepy, and I do actually feel that the games setting, if not it's execution, is pretty damn creepy, at least to me. Being trapped in an isolated place that is slowly yet inevitably and irreversibly turning all crazy and alien all around you? That seems a pretty shuddersome little scenario to me. But I find the puppets that advertise Dolmio sauces about the creepiest things ever, so what do I know?

As to the next update - With luck and a favouring wind, hopefully the internet will be vomiting an updated MMM into your lap within twenty-four hours of.... now. :3
Don't let the map over inflate your expectations though - you're not going to be able to get out into the rest of the island quite yet.

Hey, I'm happy with anything. It's one of my favourite erotic games.

Can't wait :)

I dunno, I spam click "escape" like crazy when I encounter Fat Goths or Dick Girls (some others as well). I don't ever wanna read one of those defeated scenes ;)

Looking forward to the update SeldomPie!

Oh god I am soo hyped. I keep pressing comming back every so often and pressing f5. Hope the update is soon!

Hail the High King said...

Seems we got hyped a bit too early.

Anonymous said...

Any news on whats happening with the update Seldom?

Anonymous said...

He said there were technical issues didn't he? Maybe they take a while to resolve. You should be patient and stop pressuring pie to throw in a release. We've waited this long. Any longer shouldn't be an issue.

This is an interesting game, I've only got two problems with it really. One is that the length of the days seems to swing wildly back and forth (I've had one last two link choices), the other is the fact that if I'm hunting for a particular minx because that's my kink it can be almost impossible to find them in the variety. I've been trying to get the Swollen Nerd, and I just keep almost constantly running into Lady Long Legs, Crab Girls, Eel Girls, and Little Women instead. I know you've said you wouldn't include a way to indicate unwanted kinks, but maybe a way to indicate preferred ones so that players are a little happier with it?

SeldomPie said...

Hm, you should get around eight "actions" a day - actions being scavenging, exploring, etc, and don't include moving from area to area - so I think something's going wrong there. Only thing I can think of that'd be sending you to the end of the day is if you trigger an event - defeat scene or whatever - that is supposed to last for the end of the day?
Not sure what to do about making the various minxes more.. findable? I guess maybe trying to organise them more into themed areas, like how we have all the water oes in the riverside or seafront areas at the moment, might help?

Hail the High King said...

That's be great, but the game has been overcrowded for a while. I think that is an issue that will naturally fix itself as it expands and includes more areas.

Anonymous said...

Yeah I am all for adding a way to make certain mobs more findable however the issue with fetishized areas is that if people only like certain areas then once they exhaust the food supplies the area they like they will have to leave their comfort zone...literally.

Now that's not a bad thing it's that it just further incentivizes people to not play the game properly...or at least I think it would. I could see someone tempted to keep searching in the area that had mobs they liked even once food ran out because they prefer fight (and losing) to the mobs there.

Not to sure what solution to suggest or even if their needs to be one. Just something I thought about.

Other than that I hope is all is well Seldom. Hope you can update us on what's happening soon but no rush, I don’t mind waiting. =P
